New Video Shows Idaho In-N-Out Shooting Chaos; Bystander Hailed as Hero

Newly released video footage provides a stark view into the chaotic and tragic mass shooting that unfolded at an In-N-Out drive-thru in Twin Falls, Idaho, last weekend. The incident, which left three people dead and a total of ten shot, saw gunman Chad Williams, 24, open fire multiple times before taking his own life.

The video, made public by police on Friday, shows Williams approaching the drive-thru window on four occasions to shoot victims. The rampage extended beyond the restaurant, with victims found directly outside, on an adjacent busy road, and at a nearby visitors' center lot. Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks described the events as “violent, frightening and deeply traumatic,” noting that what should have been a “normal Saturday afternoon” turned into a scene of “chaos, fear and now loss.”

Amidst the horror, the footage also captured a moment of remarkable heroism. As the gunman moved towards a walking trail where nearby store employees had fled, he was confronted by a bystander. This individual, seen with hands in the air, engaged Williams, distracting him and likely preventing further casualties as authorities closed in. “To that young man, you are a hero,” Chief Hicks stated. “Your courage, your composure, your selflessness in that moment likely gave others the time they needed to escape harm.” The community has expressed immense gratitude for this act of bravery.

Despite the detailed video evidence, the motive behind Williams’s actions remains unknown, nearly a week after the incident. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the attack. Hicks also acknowledged an off-duty state trooper who fired at Williams from inside the restaurant, further contributing to efforts to stop the gunman.
