Fans of the beloved Apple TV series "Ted Lasso" are on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting news regarding a potential fifth season. The recent fourth season concluded with a bittersweet finale, leaving many storylines neatly tied up but also sparking questions about the future of AFC Richmond and its titular coach. While an official renewal for "Ted Lasso" Season 5 has yet to be announced, there's a glimmer of hope for viewers.
Lead actor and co-creator Jason Sudeikis offered encouraging hints in a July 2026 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The publication noted that if plans proceed as hoped, the "Lasso" writing team could reconvene in late August to begin outlining a new season, even without an official greenlight.
Sudeikis reportedly still has many ideas from an earlier creative retreat that haven't been utilized, and his "Notes app remains a well of material." He continues to envision a three-season arc, expressing optimism that the audience will still be invested.
As for the cast, no specific members have been confirmed for a potential Season 5, given the lack of renewal.
However, fans would undoubtedly wish to see familiar faces return, including Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Tanya Reynolds, and others who brought the characters to life. Cast members themselves are sharing their thoughts on where their characters might go.
In an October interview, Tanya Reynolds, who plays Alice Chilton, admitted she has "no idea" about her character's future but sees "so much potential, so many possibilities." She even expressed a desire for a flashback episode exploring her character's "Arsenal days" to uncover past rivalries. Co-star Abbie Hern, who plays Gemma Jay, added lightheartedly that she'd love to see Alice "in a kit, though. Just for a minute," even if it required CGI.
The show's devoted fanbase is holding onto hope for more heartwarming moments and character development.
The possibility of continuing Ted Lasso's journey and seeing how the team fares under a new head coach keeps the conversation alive. Until an official announcement is made, speculation and anticipation for "Ted Lasso" Season 5 will undoubtedly continue.
