iPhone 17e debuts in India with A19 chip and 48MP camera

Apple has officially announced its affordable flagship phone, the iPhone 17e, in India days ahead of the March 4 launch event. The new generation model flaunts upgraded performance with an A19 chip built on 3-nanometer technology, a MagSafe ecosystem, a C1X 5G modem, and more, making it an enticing upgrade for budget-conscious buyers who want to experience the Apple ecosystem.

The device features an aerospace-grade aluminum design with Ceramic Shield 2 protection on the front, providing 3x better scratch resistance than the previous generation. It also carries an IP68 rating for protection against water and dust. The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display uses OLED technology, offering a 60Hz refresh rate and up to 1200 nits peak HDR brightness. For performance, the iPhone 17e relies on the A19 chip built with 3-nanometer technology, complemented by a 4-core GPU, a Neural Engine, and dedicated Neural Accelerators to run Apple Intelligence more efficiently. A C1X chip claims to deliver 2x faster 5G connectivity compared with the iPhone 16e.

Camera-wise, the iPhone 17e sports a 48MP Fusion camera capable of optical-quality 2x telephoto zoom, with 4K Dolby Vision recording at up to 60 fps. While Apple has not disclosed the battery capacity, the company promises all-day battery life, along with MagSafe and Qi2 support offering wireless charging up to 15W.

In India, the iPhone 17e will be available in classic color options like black and white, signaling Apple’s continued push to bring high-end features at a more accessible price point for the local market.
