The Post-Work Debrief: A Poem
The Post-Work Debrief: A Poem
Spending 45 minutes on FaceTime dissecting a two-sentence text from a crush with your best friend...
a 2-word text pops up at 5:01
and suddenly we’re in a full war room,
headsets on, faceTime glowing in the dark,
analyzing a period vs. an exclamation mark
like it’s a national security threat.
she says he’s definitely playing it cool,
i say no, he’s just emotionally bankrupt,
we zoom in on the screenshot like detective noir,
comparing timestamps, checking his active status,
building a court-admissible case out of thin air.
an hour slips by, tea cold on the desk,
we reach no conclusion, as per usual,
just two girls in oversized hoodies
turning micro-interactions into high-stakes drama
because peace was never an option anyway.
