Political tension is heating up in Uttar Pradesh as Congress state chief Ajay Rai finds himself in legal trouble. An FIR was registered against Rai on Saturday following a controversial event in Mahoba district where he allegedly made abusive remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The complaint was filed by a BJP worker, Neeraj Rawat, who claimed that Rai’s words and actions during the program were deeply offensive and disruptive.
The trouble started during a gathering organized on May 22 in the Samad Nagar area. According to the police report, Rai arrived with a large convoy of around 15 to 16 vehicles and a group of supporters. This large gathering allegedly blocked public roads, causing a major headache for local commuters and forcing police officers to divert from their regular duties to manage the situation. But the real firestorm began when a video from the event started circulating on social media, purportedly showing Rai using objectionable language against the Prime Minister.
Ajay Rai, however, is not taking the accusations lying down. He has hit back, claiming that the video is a complete fake, created using AI technology by the BJP's IT cell to tarnish his image. With over 35 years in politics, Rai insists he has always maintained dignity and plans to file his own police complaint once he reaches Lucknow. He argues that the entire incident is a political setup designed to silence the opposition.
The BJP leadership has been quick to condemn the incident. High-profile figures, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, have spoken out against the alleged remarks, calling them a reflection of a disrespectful political culture. Meanwhile, the police have booked Rai, along with a local leader and several unidentified supporters, under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges for unlawful assembly and promoting enmity. As the investigation continues, both parties remain locked in a heated war of words over the authenticity of the viral footage.
