Officials confirm no rule violations at the Kozhikode strong room as Kerala readies May 4 counting across 140 centres with 15,465 officials.
Officials on Saturday said there was no violation of rules in the recent opening of a polling material room by the RO for Perambra in the JDT Islam Education Complex, where EVMs for eight segments in Kozhikode district are kept. The District Election Officer, District Collector Snehil Kumar Singh, announced that the RO's presence near the strong room on a subsequent day for the Koyilandy constituency was not illegal either. These findings were shared at a press conference.
Kerala is gearing up for counting on May 4, with meticulous preparations across the state. The Chief Electoral Officer confirmed that counting centres have been arranged across 43 locations, totaling 140 centres, and that 15,465 officials will participate in the tally.
In Kozhikode and other districts, security protocols and chain-of-custody measures have been tightened to ensure EVM integrity. In other parts of the state, counting arrangements in Erode and Kottayam are also reported to be in place, indicating a broad, coordinated approach to the vote tally.
Officials emphasised that the procedures adhere to established guidelines, with measures including restricted access to strong rooms, tamper-evident seals, and real-time monitoring to ensure transparency. The overall message from authorities is that counting will proceed smoothly and credibly on May 4.
