Pankaj Tripathi-led "Mirzapur: The Movie" is proving its mettle at the box office, even as its eleventh day saw collections dip. While the film has slowed down after a phenomenal opening week, it's still making significant waves, outperforming several other releases.
On day 11, September 14, the crime thriller secured an India nett collection of Rs 5.50 crore from 7,014 shows. This brings its total domestic earnings to a solid Rs 190.20 crore.
Globally, the movie has grossed an impressive Rs 273.64 crore, as per industry trackers.
Despite a 58.5% drop from its Sunday earnings of Rs 13.25 crore, "Mirzapur: The Movie" is firmly holding its ground. It has now surpassed Priyadarshan's Akshay Kumar-starrer "Bhooth Bangla" (Rs 270.91 crore) to become the fourth-highest-grossing Hindi film of the year. It's currently just behind Vishal Chaturvedi's "Hanuman Ansh," which stands at Rs 277.80 crore.
The film recorded an overall occupancy of 26.82% in the Hindi market on Monday. Morning shows started off at 12.62% occupancy, which rose to 30.92% in the afternoon and remained strong at 30.31% in the evening, before settling at 27.85% for night screenings.
"Mirzapur" is significantly outperforming Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar's "Haiwaan," which managed only Rs 70 lakh on its fourth day in cinemas. However, "Hanuman Ansh" continues its blockbuster run, earning Rs 8.25 crore on its 39th day and pushing its total domestic collections to Rs 222.88 crore, which has undoubtedly impacted "Mirzapur's" prospects.
Starring an ensemble cast including Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan, and Rasika Dugal alongside Pankaj Tripathi, the movie is a cinematic extension of the hugely popular Amazon Prime Video series.
It delves into an untold narrative from 2018, the year the first season premiered.
Critics have praised the film for its ability to stay true to its essence, delivering speedy spurts of action and an intriguing climax.
