Beloved kids' show Balamory is back on CBeebies, reuniting Miss Hoolie and Pc Plum while welcoming fresh characters for a new generation.
Beloved children's series Balamory is returning to CBeebies more than two decades after its first broadcast, in a revamped format that keeps the spirit of the show while introducing new characters. Julie Wilson Nimmo, who originally played Miss Hoolie, is back in the role and will be joined by Andrew Agnew as Pc Plum, along with other familiar faces who remain friends.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Nimmo said she never expected to reprise the role but is thrilled to return to a show she loved, describing Balamory as a big, warm blanket for families.
Agnew, who played the kindly local PC Plum, called the revival 'really exciting' and noted that pulling the police uniform back on for new episodes is part of the appeal.
While the team will mix nostalgia with a fresh format and new characters for a modern generation, Nimmo also reflects on the show's timeless, lighthearted feel, inspired by memories of a simpler time.
First aired in 2002, Balamory became a staple of UK children's TV, and the comeback signals a continued appetite for comforting, imaginative programming.
