Kerala to Regularise Over 20,000 Aided Teacher Posts
Kerala extends relaxation to all aided schools to permanently appoint over 20,000 provisional teachers, pending Supreme Court verdict.
In Thiruvananthapuram, the Kerala government announced that it would extend the relaxation previously granted to the Nair Service Society for permanent appointments to general-category posts to all aided school managements, subject to the Supreme Court verdict. More than 20,000 teachers working on provisional or daily-wage terms in aided schools are expected to benefit, with all benefits due from their dates of appointment to be ensured. The case related to the appointments will be taken up by the court on April 14. The government also noted that regularisation of 442 teachers who had submitted special leave petitions should be paused until the final verdict to avoid potential contempt of court. The decision requires managements to reserve posts for the differently abled as per the court’s directive and to complete the second phase activities of the district-level committees to select eligible differently abled job aspirants. The Supreme Court judgment will also be applicable to all future appointments by aided school managements. Aided school managements that have yet to reserve posts for the differently abled should do so, and the district-level committees should continue their work to complete the second phase.
