Big Move in TN: CM Vijay Invites VCK and IUML to Join the Cabinet
Tamil Nadu politics is heating up as CM Vijay's TVK invites VCK and IUML to join the state cabinet. Will these secular parties accept the offer? Read more about this historic shift!
The political landscape in Tamil Nadu is witnessing a major shift as the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has officially invited the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) to be part of the state cabinet. This open invitation, announced on Wednesday, marks a significant step in Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s plan to form a broad-based, secular administration.
Minister for Public Works and Sports Development, Aadhav Arjuna, confirmed the development while speaking to reporters. He emphasized that it is the Chief Minister’s personal wish to see VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan and representatives from the IUML join the Council of Ministers. The TVK leadership believes that for the government to truly represent the people’s mandate, it must include a variety of secular voices. The party has also reached out to the Congress party, which supported the TVK government during its formation, to finalize their cabinet berths.
In response to the invitation, VCK chief Thol. Thirumavalavan stated that he would discuss the offer with his party’s frontline leaders before making a final decision. Similarly, IUML leader Kader Mohideen indicated that his party would deliberate on the matter and announce their stance by May 21. However, the IUML has already set a clear boundary, stating they would withdraw their support if the BJP were ever included in the cabinet.
Minister Arjuna didn't hold back when discussing the political climate, noting that the people of Tamil Nadu, particularly the youth and women, voted for a change after nearly 50 years of dominance by the DMK and AIADMK. He accused the traditional Dravidian parties of underestimating the TVK’s impact. As the state waits for these parties to make their move, all eyes are on Chief Minister Vijay and the upcoming announcement regarding the cabinet expansion.
