The Who Reunion Confirmed: Zak Starkey Back on Drums After Acrimonious Split!

Great news for fans of classic rock! Legendary band The Who appears to be bringing back their long-time drummer, Zak Starkey, just over a year after what was widely reported as an acrimonious split.

Frontman Roger Daltrey made the exciting announcement during a solo show at the Encore Theater in Las Vegas last Wednesday (August 26). He told the enthusiastic audience that The Who had recently rehearsed with Starkey, teasing potential European shows.

Daltrey stated, adding that Starkey was behind the kit and that "it sounded great."

Starkey, son of Beatles legend Ringo Starr, quickly confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing a screenshot of the report. He affectionately wrote, "Nice one Rog x. Lookin' forward to tearin' it up with The Who again… The rehearsal was great." He later told Rolling Stone that the afternoon rehearsal left the band "absolutely on fire," expressing his joy: "I'm so happy to be back playing the music I love with people I love.

It's good to be home."

This reunion comes after a period of uncertainty.

Starkey had been The Who's touring drummer for nearly three decades, starting in 1996.

However, his position was thrown into question following the band's Teenage Cancer Trust shows at London's Royal Albert Hall in March last year.

During a performance of 'The Song Is Over,' Daltrey reportedly stopped the show, complaining he couldn't hear the key over the drums. This incident led to reports that Starkey had been fired after an "acrimonious" fallout, a decision he later said left him "surprised and saddened."

Now, with the past seemingly put behind them, the prospect of Zak Starkey once again 'tearin' it up' with The Who promises an electrifying return to form for the iconic band. Fans can undoubtedly look forward to powerful performances from the reunited lineup.
