Nifty50 slips below 25,950 as Sensex hovers around 84,800, marking a cautious start for Indian markets amid global cues and earnings season.
Indian equity benchmarks opened in the red on Monday, with Nifty50 slipping below 25,950 and the BSE Sensex hovering around 84,800 as investors started the week with caution.
The weak start came as global cues remained uncertain and traders awaited fresh directional clues from earnings season.
In early trading, IT names helped steady sentiment, with Tech Mahindra, Infosys, HCL Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services, HDFC Bank and Maruti among the biggest gainers.
As the session progressed, the market tried to pare losses, aided by pockets of buying in tech shares, though the mood remained cautious.
Analysts said the day would be shaped by global cues and domestic earnings updates, with investors awaiting clearer directional cues before taking bigger positions.
