Rob Reiner's Posthumous Emmy & 'Widow's Bay' Dominates Creative Arts!

The 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards saw a wave of early honors, with a particularly poignant moment as the late Rob Reiner was posthumously awarded for his role in 'The Bear'. Reiner, a celebrated director and actor known for classics like 'The Princess Bride' and 'When Harry Met Sally', received the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Emmy on Sunday, September 6th.

The honor comes nearly nine months after his tragic death last December, when he and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found murdered at their home in Brentwood, Los Angeles.

Their son, Nick Reiner, has been charged with the killings and has pleaded not guilty.

The audience gave a standing ovation as Wendi McLendon-Covey accepted the trophy on his behalf, remarking, "It's appropriate to stand for this one.

I know we all wish Rob could be here tonight." This marks Reiner's first Emmy win in 48 years, surpassing his father Carl Reiner's record for the longest gap between acting wins.

Beyond this emotional tribute, the Apple TV horror-comedy 'Widow's Bay' emerged as a dominant force, securing an impressive eight early trophies for its debut season. Among the other notable winners, Linda Cardellini and David Harbour clinched their first Emmy awards. They both took home Supporting Actor and Actress in a Limited Series for their performances in the HBO series 'DTF St Louis'.

Cardellini, celebrating her fourth nomination and first win, shared her joy, stating,

Betty Gilpin also earned a Supporting Actress in a Comedy award for her role in 'Widow's Bay', highlighting the show's exceptional performance ahead of the main telecast.
