Canada pulls away late to seal a 9-6 victory over Team GB in the men’s curling final, delivering silver for Mouat’s rink at the Winter Olympics.
Canada pulled away late to seal a 9-6 victory in the men’s curling gold medal match, repeating the drama of the 2014 Olympic final. Bruce Mouat's rink battled hard but could not overturn the late Canadian push. The silver medal marks another heartbreak for Great Britain, who are chasing a first men’s Olympic curling gold and a historic title after a long wait for Olympic glory. This performance, however, elevates the sport's profile back home and leaves analysts and fans pondering what’s next for the team as they enter the off-season.
In a contest defined by precision and steady nerve, Canada’s execution proved decisive as they built a lead and held off Britain’s late charges. Mouat acknowledged the challenge but praised his team’s resilience and growth throughout the Games, signaling a determined push toward future championships.
The result underscores Canada’s curling pedigree at Olympic level, while GB’s silver adds to the underdog story that has captivated fans this Games cycle. The silver is not the medal they wanted, but it has already sparked renewed interest in Britain’s curling pathways, with discussions about development, support, and the steps needed to translate Olympic momentum into lasting success.
