Veteran Actor Pradeep Rawat Passes Away at 74 After Cancer Relapse

Actor Pradeep Rawat, celebrated for his memorable roles in films like “Ghajini” and “Lagaan,” has sadly passed away at the age of 74. His manager, Siddharth Tiwari, confirmed that the veteran actor succumbed to a relapse of blood cancer, which led to a drastic drop in his platelet count to a critically low 6,000 per microliter.
Rawat had successfully fought stomach cancer four years prior. However, in May of this year, he began experiencing discomfort and significant weight loss, leading to tests that revealed blood cancer. He was admitted to Kokilaben Hospital in July for several weeks before being transferred to a cancer speciality hospital in Bhiwandi for further treatment. Despite efforts, his immune system weakened, and his white blood cells shot up, ultimately leading to his demise.
His manager shared details of the final rites, which were held on August 5. His mortal remains were kept for final darshan at Imperial Heights, Goregaon West, before cremation near the Oshiwara Bridge in Jogeshwari West.
Pradeep Rawat is survived by his wife, Kalyani Rawat, and their 18-year-old son, Vikramaditya. Dr. Meghal Sanghavi, a consultant onco-surgeon at Wockhardt Hospitals in Mumbai Central, explained the critical link between blood cancer and plummeting platelet counts, highlighting the severity of Rawat's condition.
