Great Britain's women's curling team opened their 2026 Winter Olympics campaign with a 7-6 upset over world champions Canada. After losses to China and South Korea, Rebecca Morrison's rink found their rhythm and produced a win that could lift their momentum for the rest of the tournament.
Canada led early, but Morrison's precision grew as the Canadians looked vulnerable after their prior loss to the United States. It took until the third end for the Scottish quartet to get on the board, but after Canada skip Rachel Homan erred, Morrison kept her composure to slide in for three. A brilliant Morrison shot in the fourth end forced another mistake from Homan and allowed GB to steal, before they were into the break 4-2 up.
"It just feels absolutely amazing to go out there and get our first win," skip Sophie Jackson said. The team will now look to build on this performance as they chase more upsets and precious Olympic points.
