The cricketing world is buzzing about the Sooryavanshi household from Motipur village, Samastipur, Bihar. Following in the footsteps of elder brother Vaibhav, 10-year-old Ashirvad Sooryavanshi has just announced his arrival with a stunning century in his very first match for Cricket Academy Tajpur.
Ashirvad, who remarkably started playing cricket only six months ago, scored an impressive 103 runs off just 87 balls in a practice match, adorned with 20 fours and a six. This incredible feat quickly gained widespread attention after his elder brother, Vaibhav, currently representing India A in a tri-series in Sri Lanka, shared a screenshot of Ashirvad's scorecard on social media. The post sparked immense curiosity about this budding young talent.
His coach, Chandra Deep, who runs Cricket Academy Tajpur, expressed amazement at Ashirvad's rapid progress. "Ashirvad abhi 6 mahina pehle to start hi kiya hai. Bat handling, grip karna jaldi seekh gaya (Ashirvad only started playing cricket six months ago, but he quickly learnt the basics of bat handling and grip)," he stated. The coach even used a popular saying, "Bade miyaan to bade miyaan, chhote miyaan subhanallah. Bas wahi samajh lijiye. Dono bhai, dono tabaahi" (The elder is great, but the younger is simply astounding. That's how it is. Both brothers are destructive).
Ashirvad's cricketing journey began on the same pitches where Vaibhav honed his skills, fostering a shared dream between the brothers. The elder brother, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, is already making waves on the national stage at just 15 years old. The BCCI has taken the unprecedented step of allowing his parents to accompany him on his maiden senior national tour to Ireland and England, recognizing his young age and the need for support as he transitions into international cricket.
Former India captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth has also heaped praise on Vaibhav, calling him a potential game-changer for Test cricket. Srikkanth described Vaibhav as "simply outstanding for Indian cricket" and even a "son of God" in cricketing terms, urging patience for the prodigious talent to realize his vast potential. With both brothers showing such immense promise, the Sooryavanshi name could soon become synonymous with cricketing excellence.
