Delhi gears up for Republic Day 2026 with a grand parade along Kartavya Path, a route that will showcase 150 years of the national song Vande Mataram and a display of India's military might, cultural diversity, and technological progress.
The main event is scheduled to begin around 9:30 am, with spectators lining the avenue near India Gate as the ceremonial procession unfolds, featuring tableaux from states and union territories and performances that reflect the nation’s rich tapestry. The parade is designed to emphasize a blend of tradition and modernity, illustrating how history informs today’s innovations.
Television and online audiences can watch the parade live on Doordarshan and its official YouTube channel, as well as All India Radio’s YouTube channel and government portals. Viewers across India can also tune in on most news channels and websites, ensuring nationwide access to the celebrations. The theme this year highlights the idea that tableaux serve as moving archives of the nation’s civilisational memory, capturing stories of culture, science, and resilience.
Dignitaries from the European Council and Commission are expected to attend as chief guests, underscoring strengthened diplomatic ties and shared values on the global stage. Delhi Police has issued traffic advisories to manage flow and security along Kartavya Path on Republic Day, with timings and routes clearly communicated to minimize disruption.
As the nation marks the 76th Republic Day, officials and citizens alike look forward to a ceremony that celebrates military strength, cultural diversity, and technological advancements, with a special focus on the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram.
