Three Held in Bengaluru Village Rape Case: Video Filmed and Shared
Police say three men were arrested in Bengaluru South District for allegedly raping a college student, recording the act, and circulating the clip; investigations ongoing.
Bengaluru South District police have arrested three men for allegedly raping a woman from their village and recording the act on camera, which was later circulated among themselves. The accused are Vikas and Prashanth, both college students, and Chetan, an electrician, all residents of a village in Magadi taluk.
The assault, the victim has alleged, took place in October at Chetan’s house, and she says the videos were filmed without her knowledge. The trio allegedly shared the clip among themselves, and the video was later leaked and circulated on WhatsApp.
Police have registered an FIR under sections 70 (gang rape), 71 (punishment for repeat offenders), and 64 (rape) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. They have seized the mobile phones of the accused as part of the investigation and are examining who filmed the act and with whom the clip was shared.
