At Cannes 2026, Vin Diesel honors Paul Walker during the midnight 25th anniversary screening of The Fast and the Furious, with Meadow Walker and stars in attendance.
The 25th anniversary screening of The Fast and the Furious at Cannes 2026 turned emotional as Vin Diesel fought back tears while paying tribute to Paul Walker during a midnight celebration at the Palais des Festivals.
Diesel was joined on stage by franchise stars Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, producer Neal Moritz and Universal chairman Donna Langley, with Walker's daughter Meadow Walker also in attendance.
Before the film began, Diesel spoke about the bond that defined the franchise. “This is a film where brotherhood was introduced to our millennium, by myself and my brother Pablo,” he said, using his longtime nickname for Walker. “The person that was not going to let me come alone here to represent that brotherhood was Meadow Walker.”
Diesel grew emotional, stepping away briefly, telling the audience, “I’m gonna go and shed a tear real quick.” The crowd responded with a lengthy standing ovation as Meadow and Diesel addressed the audience together.
Diesel closed by thanking fans for supporting the franchise for a quarter-century and teased that the saga would return for one final chapter, Fast Forever, scheduled for release in 2028.
