Security agencies disrupt a cross-border terror module plotting ricin poison and coordinated IED strikes on Ayodhya, Delhi, and iconic sites.
In a major security breakthrough, Gujarat ATS and several federal agencies have dismantled a cross-state terror module tied to overseas handlers that allegedly aimed to unleash a ricin-based attack and a 26/11-style assault using vehicle-borne IEDs and gunfire. The plot reportedly targeted Ayodhya and Delhi’s landmarks, signaling a bold attempt to strike at multiple symbolic sites across northern and central India.
Investigations indicate the module operated with links to a Turkiye-based handler codenamed Ukasa, who allegedly directed the Delhi-based cell led by Umar Un Nabi, identified by security agencies as the car bomber in Delhi. The targets reportedly included Ayodhya and the Red Fort, with plans for a coordinated series of strikes to maximize casualties and disrupt public life. The case has prompted a major security review across several states as investigators piece together the network behind the plot.
Police and anti-terror agencies have highlighted a cross-state footprint. In Hyderabad, a ricin-making setup was uncovered and three suspects were arrested in connection with the broader plot: Dr Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed, Mohammad Suhail Mohammad Saleem Khan and Azad Suleman Sheikh. These operations are part of an ongoing probe that authorities say is tied to a larger international terror network online and through handlers abroad.
NIA has taken over the investigation, with officials confirming that more vehicle-borne threats and suspects are being sought as the probe expands. The authorities have also noted links to organisations such as JeM and AGuH, underscoring the transnational dimension of the threat. While officials stress that several plots were in the planning stage, the rapid action by state and central agencies prevented any attack and a potential mass casualty situation.
As investigations continue, authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The arrests and the seizure of a ricin-making setup mark a significant setback for the network, but security officials warn that other modules could still be active and require close monitoring across multiple corridors and cities.
