Trump Iran strikes tied to Epstein files, lawmakers say
Lawmakers accuse Trump of using Iran strikes to divert attention from Epstein files as new DOJ memos surface.
Lawmakers are raising questions about the timing of actions by the Trump administration, arguing that military moves abroad may be used to shift focus away from the Epstein files. Allegations have circulated that the joint U.S.-Israel airstrikes on Iran were not solely about regional security but also served as a distraction from ongoing Epstein-related disclosures. Critics point to a pattern of impulsive military decisions that lack clear exit strategies, urging a closer look at whether domestic political concerns are influencing foreign policy moves.
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has been outspoken on both foreign policy and accountability, urged that the strikes be weighed against the broader context of investigations into Epstein-related disclosures. Other members of Congress, including Republican Representatives Thomas Massie and Marjorie Taylor Greene, echoed similar sentiments, suggesting that the timing of such actions often coincides with developments or revelations concerning the Epstein files.
Meanwhile, Democrats continue to scrutinize how the Epstein materials were handled by the administration. Reports emerged that newly released Epstein files contain references to a minor who allegedly made accusations related to Trump, underscoring the ongoing sensitivity around the information. Democrats are pressing for transparency as they review the release process and the handling of related documents.
On the domestic front, the Department of Justice has faced criticism over its management of the Epstein file releases. The House Oversight Committee is conducting investigations that involve figures named in the ongoing inquiries, including an individual listed as Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Attorney General Pam Bondi in related discussions. In addition, DOJ has explained that three memos summarizing 2019 FBI discussions with an anonymous accuser were previously withheld after being incorrectly coded as duplicative, highlighting continuing questions about the scope and sequencing of the Epstein-file disclosures.
As policymakers debate accountability and transparency, the public is watching closely to see how these intersecting issues—foreign military actions, Epstein disclosures, and DOJ conduct—will influence the political landscape and public trust in institutions.
