Chennai District hits 40.8% in SIR form distribution for 2026 election
Chennai kicks off the Special Intensive Revision with 40.8% of voters receiving SIR forms across 16 constituencies, as officials push door-to-door outreach.
As part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) for 2026, enumeration forms have been distributed to 16,35,596 voters — about 40.8% of the total 40,04,694 voters — across 16 Assembly constituencies in Chennai district as of 8 p.m. on Monday. The most number of forms were distributed in Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar to 1,58,856 voters, out of 2,35,272, and the least in Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar to 77,227 voters, out of 2,23,571. Draft voter list: Chennai district has 39.52 lakh voters after summary revision.
The revision, which began on November 4, 2025, is part of a wider exercise announced on October 27, 2025, covering nine States and three Union Territories, a press release of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) said. According to GCC, a total of 3,718 Booth Level Officers have been deployed to distribute enumeration forms through house-to-house visits in Chennai district. The distribution process will continue until December 4, 2025.
Voters are required to fill in and return one copy of the form, while another signed copy will be handed back to them as acknowledgment. Awareness activities, including the distribution of pamphlets in residential areas, parks and schools, and rangoli displays carrying messages on voter enrolment, were held on November 10, 2025, to encourage public participation in the revision process.
