Navy Day 2025: Murmu salutes Indian Navy's bravery and service
President Murmu salutes Indian Navy personnel on Navy Day, praising their courage, vigilance, and role in securing trade routes and leading humanitarian missions.
President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday extended greetings to Indian Navy personnel, veterans and their families on Navy Day, saying the nation salutes the brave men and women who safeguard maritime borders and national interests with courage, vigilance and unwavering commitment.
In a post on X, she added: 'From securing trade routes and strengthening the blue economy to leading humanitarian missions, the Indian Navy embodies discipline, compassion and responsibility.'
Navy Day is observed as an acknowledgement of the Navy's seminal role in the country's defence, and to commemorate its valour against Pakistan during the 1971 war when it inflicted heavy losses on the enemy.
One of the day’s highlights was a public Navy demonstration at Shanghumughom Beach, which thrilled crowds with displays of seafaring skill and precision.
The celebrations underline the Navy's multifaceted duties—from deterrence and disaster response to safeguarding sea lanes and supporting the blue economy— and reflect a sense of national pride shared by personnel, veterans and their families.
