PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi Lead Tributes on Ambedkar’s Mahaparinirvan Diwas
Leaders across India honor Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on Mahaparinirvan Diwas, with Modi, Gandhi paying respects and thousands at Chaityabhoomi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked Mahaparinirvan Diwas by paying tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of India's Constitution, and praising his vision of justice and equality. In a post on X, Modi said Ambedkar's leadership and unwavering commitment to constitutionalism continue to guide India's path toward a 'Viksit Bharat'.
Modi joined Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan in offering floral tributes at Ambedkar's statue at Prerna Sthal in Parliament House. Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, called Ambedkar an icon whose timeless legacy of equality, justice and human dignity strengthens the resolve to defend the Constitution after paying his own tributes at the same site.
In Mumbai, thousands gathered at Chaityabhoomi in Shivaji Park to pay their respects. Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray were among those who offered tributes at the site.
Earlier on social media, Gandhi posted humble tributes, noting Ambedkar's timeless legacy of equality, justice and human dignity that continues to inspire India's inclusive journey.
The day underscores Ambedkar's enduring impact on social justice, democracy, and the dignity of every citizen, with leaders urging citizens to carry his ideals forward.
