UDF Regains Kannur Corporation With 36 of 56 Wards
Kannur sees a decisive UDF win as LDF trails and NDA makes limited gains, reshaping Kerala's municipal politics.
In a significant turn for Kerala’s local politics, Kannur Corporation voters handed the United Democratic Front (UDF) a clear majority by winning 36 of the 56 wards. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) trailed in a distant second with 15 seats, while the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured four wards. The results come as a major setback to the LDF and a boost for the UDF’s organizational strength ahead of broader electoral contests. Pallikunnu ward remained with the NDA, with the party also winning Kokkenpara, Thulicheri and Temple wards. In contrast, the Congress-led alliance faced setbacks in Thulicheri and Temple, which went to the BJP.
