Nolan's 'The Odyssey' Smashes Records, Becomes Universal's Highest-Grossing Film Ever! 🎬

In a truly monumental achievement, Christopher Nolan's epic film, "The Odyssey," has officially surpassed "Jurassic World" to become Universal Pictures' highest-grossing film of all time. Just months after its July 17th release, the movie has captivated audiences worldwide, redefining box office success for the studio.

The film, a masterful adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek epic, stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the legendary Greek king of Ithaca, on his arduous 10-year journey home following the Trojan War. Critics have lauded its ambition and execution, contributing to its incredible performance.

"The Odyssey" has amassed over $1.677 billion (£1.24 billion) globally, comfortably outperforming 2015's "Jurassic World," which had grossed approximately $1.671 billion (£1.23 billion). Projections indicate it's set to reach $1.685 billion globally this weekend, which would secure its place as the 12th highest-grossing film of all time and the third-biggest non-franchise title ever.

This success also marks a career-high for acclaimed director Sir Christopher Nolan, making "The Odyssey" his highest-grossing film to date.

Previously, his 2012 Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises," held that distinction. Nolan not only wrote and directed the three-hour epic but also produced it alongside his wife, Dame Emma Thomas.

Donna Langley, chairman of NBCUniversal entertainment, praised their work, stating,

"The Odyssey" debuted at number one worldwide and maintained its top position for two consecutive weekends both domestically and internationally. Remarkably, it returned to the global top spot in its eighth weekend, showcasing its enduring popularity.

It stands as one of three Universal films this year to cross the billion-dollar mark, alongside "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" and "Michael." Produced on a reported budget of $250 million (£185 million), excluding marketing, this film has truly sailed into the history books.
