The AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance finalised its seat-sharing for Tamil Nadu's April 23 Assembly elections, announcing allocations that include 27 seats for the BJP, 18 for the PMK, and 11 for the AMMK. The arrangement was unveiled at the AIADMK headquarters in Chennai, with Palaniswami stating talks with remaining allies were still underway and would be completed soon, followed by constituency-wise allocations.
Palaniswami described the alliance as bonded and victorious, insisting the NDA will win a majority and that AIADMK will form the government. He highlighted the pace of talks, noting that leaders arrived in the morning, the seat-sharing was finalised by afternoon, and the details would be shared after further discussions. He did not specify how many seats the AIADMK itself would contest, saying negotiations continued.
The NDA's Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) led by GK Vasan and IJK are also part of the talks, with discussions ongoing to integrate them fully. The overarching aim is to consolidate the anti-DMK front in Tamil Nadu ahead of 234 assembly contests.
As with any alliance in Tamil Nadu, the seat split will be closely watched in constituencies where local factors often decide outcomes. With the allocations now public, political analysts say the alliance will scramble for a cohesive campaign while voters await final seat-by-seat decisions.
