Zoe Ball reveals she didn’t land the Strictly hosting gig, calling the decision the right one as Emma Willis steps in to host.
After months of speculation about who would host Strictly Come Dancing, Zoe Ball revealed on her Dig It with Jo Whiley and Zoe Ball podcast that she didn’t land the new presenting role. Emma Willis is expected to join Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman as the new hosting duo. Ball said she didn’t get the gig, but it’s OK.
She described going through the seven stages of grief and rejection in the days since the auditions and said the decision was the right one based on who beat her to the job. She insisted she was honored to be in the mix and enjoyed one last playful run at a show she loves.
Emma Willis has reportedly signed up to replace the current hosts, and the lineup has been a major talking point among fans. Ball added that she is genuinely thrilled for the team and believes they will be fabulous, with the show in safe hands.
For Ball, the experience was positive and she left the door open for future opportunities, stressing that she remains a fan of Strictly and of the show's new era.
