Seven Men Charged in Major Norwich Child Exploitation Investigation
Norwich authorities have charged seven men with serious offenses including rape and human trafficking following an investigation into group-based child exploitation.
Seven men have been charged following a significant investigation into a suspected grooming gang in Norwich. The individuals, identified as Afghan nationals, face a combined total of 40 charges, including rape and child sexual abuse offenses. Police confirmed that the investigation focuses on group-based child exploitation occurring between August 2023 and May 2025.
According to the reports, the men entered the country through various clandestine means. Five arrived via small boats, one was concealed in a lorry, and another attempted entry through the Portsmouth ferry port. This development has sent shockwaves through the local community, as authorities work to address the gravity of the allegations.
The defendants appeared before Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Friday and have been remanded in custody. A plea hearing is scheduled to take place at Norwich Crown Court on June 19. Among those charged are Jamil Khalil, Ahmadin Ahmadzai, Qais Kaker, Fazal Auryakhel, Mohammed Farooq Sinwary, and Ali Ahamad, with charges ranging from human trafficking to conspiracy to commit child sexual abuse.
Superintendent Craig Miller spoke on the impact of the news, acknowledging how upsetting the case is for the public. He reassured residents that Norfolk police are doing everything in their power to protect children from abuse and exploitation. The Crown Prosecution Service is handling the cases as the investigation into the wider network continues.
