India Post launches 24- and 48-hour Speed Post from Bengaluru
Premium Speed Post promises next-day and two-day delivery across major metros, with OTP confirmation and refunds on delays, starting in Bengaluru.
Bengaluru was the launch pad on Tuesday for a new premium set of Speed Post services from India Post. The 24-hour Speed Post service guarantees next-day delivery (D+1) between identified metro city pairs Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad, and will initially be available at 42 post offices in Bengaluru.
A separate 48-hour Speed Post service guarantees delivery within two days (D+2) between the six metros—Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad—and will be available at all post offices in the city. The services promise top priority handling at booking, processing and delivery, full postage refund in case of delay, and OTP-based delivery confirmation bundled with no extra charges.
Pricing for the 24-hour Speed Post service (documents only) starts at ₹38 for local deliveries up to 50 g, and goes up to ₹186 for consignments weighing 251-500 g over distances exceeding 2,000 km.
Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia noted that India Post's revenue growth is encouraging as the department rolls out these premium services. The new offerings are designed to deliver urgent and guaranteed delivery solutions to both retail and bulk customers, signaling a shift toward faster, more reliable postal services in the country.
For customers, the move promises better reliability and tracking, especially with OTP delivery confirmation, while the refund policy adds a layer of assurance for time-sensitive shipments.
