The Mangaluru Railway Region has officially transitioned from the Palakkad division of Southern Railway to the Mysuru division of South Western Railway (SWR). This significant administrative and operational change took effect from midnight of September 30-October 1, marking a new chapter for railway services in the area.
To ensure a seamless and efficient handover, Shammas Hameed, the Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Mysuru, spearheaded the review of arrangements. Along with a dedicated team of officers from the Mysuru division, he meticulously oversaw the transition process to guarantee uninterrupted railway operations in Mangaluru.
The team conducted comprehensive visits to key railway locations across the Mangaluru region, including Mangaluru Central, Mangaluru Junction, Panambur, and Jokatte.
During these inspections, they thoroughly examined operational arrangements and existing facilities.
A crucial part of their work involved direct interaction with railway staff to understand their needs and confirm the availability of adequate manpower, resources, and essential facilities for smooth functioning. Emphasis was placed on fostering effective coordination among various departments, ensuring staff readiness, optimizing train operations, implementing robust safety arrangements, maintaining infrastructure, and enhancing passenger-related services.
Necessary instructions were promptly issued to officials to address any operational requirements and maintain continuous, seamless coordination between field units and the divisional office.
This integration is viewed as a crucial step forward, with the Mysuru division putting all necessary arrangements in place.
The goal is to ensure that train operations, maintenance activities, safety measures, and all other railway services continue without any disruption under the new jurisdiction. The divisional administration, alongside branch officers and field staff, is committed to close coordination at all levels to guarantee an efficient and smooth transition for the newly integrated area.
