A massive controversy has erupted around the CBSE Class 12 board results, leaving students and parents in a state of distress. At the center of this storm is Vedant Shrivastava, a student who discovered that the Physics answer sheet uploaded under his roll number wasn't even his own.
Vedant noticed a significant mismatch in his marks and applied for a re-evaluation. When he received the scanned copy of his answer script, he was shocked to find that the handwriting and the attempted answers did not match his own style at all. It appeared the board had uploaded someone else’s paper under his name, leading to a much lower score than he expected.
The situation took a dark turn when Vedant’s family decided to raise the issue on social media. After posting screenshots of the error on X, Vedant was subjected to severe online abuse. Because his newly created account location defaulted to "South Asia," trolls labeled him a "Pakistani" and attacked his character. His father, Sanjay Shrivastava, shared that the trolling has taken a serious toll on Vedant’s mental health, forcing him to stay away from his phone during what should have been a time of academic transition.
CBSE has since responded to the outcry. The board's joint secretary acknowledged the mismatch and confirmed that Vedant’s marks would be corrected soon. While they have sent him the correct answer script via email, officials have yet to explain how such a massive mix-up occurred in the first place or how another student's work was assigned to his roll number.
This incident isn't isolated. It has brought the board's On-Screen Marking (OSM) system under heavy fire. Many students have reported technical glitches, blurred scans, and payment issues during the re-evaluation process. Political leaders have also stepped in, criticizing the government for the systemic chaos that is currently jeopardizing the academic futures of thousands of children across the country.
