Investigators launch a probe into a suspected NEET 2026 leak after a question bank circulated online reportedly contained 410 questions, with 120 appearing in the exam.
The Special Operation Group of the Rajasthan police has launched a probe into allegations of leaked questions in NEET-UG 2026 after intelligence suggested a question bank was circulating online. The document reportedly contained 410 questions in total, with 120 questions in chemistry and biology that appeared in the main paper. The NEET exam was held on May 3, and a standard NEET paper comprises 200 questions, with about 150 in botany and zoology.
DGP Rajeev Sharma reportedly received an internal tip-off on May 7 about a guess paper circulated through WhatsApp and other channels among aspirants. The inquiry has led to the questioning of 12 people from Sikar, Jaipur, Kota and Jhunjhunu, and even Dehradun in Uttarakhand. Prima facie, investigators believe the guess paper was likely circulated by a coaching centre or counsellor based in Sikar, with unconfirmed reports of a similar question bank circulating in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Kerala.
Officials note that the 410-question bank is being examined to determine any potential link to the actual exam questions. A senior official from the National Testing Agency has not confirmed that any questions in the guess paper overlapped with the main paper, and the matter has been escalated to central agencies for independent verification. The NTA has emphasized the commitment to fair and credible exams, stressing that the integrity of the vast majority of bona fide aspirants should not be devalued.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are focusing on whether any malpractice occurred and if money changed hands during the circulation of the material. The probe remains ongoing, with further developments expected from the SOG and central agencies.
