Tamil Nadu Man Kills Estranged Wife, Posts Selfie With Body

Authorities in Coimbatore are investigating a brutal crime in which S Balamurugan, 32, is accused of killing his estranged wife, Sirpriya, 30, with a sickle. Police say he then sat on a chair, lifted his phone, and took a selfie with the woman's corpse lying on the floor before posting it on his WhatsApp status.

According to investigators, the couple had separated and Sirpriya had moved from Tirunelveli to stay with her mother at a private women’s hostel in Coimbatore, where she worked in a store. Balamurugan reportedly suspected she was in a relationship with a relative and the couples had an argument over the phone before he traveled to the hostel.

After the attack, other residents fled and alerted authorities. Police arrived and arrested Balamurugan at the hostel. He waited at the scene for authorities and surrendered.

Neighbors and officials say domestic disputes can escalate into violence, and this case underscores the danger women face. Investigators are probing motives and reviewing all angles as the case develops.
