Russia reports destroying 77 Ukrainian drones overnight across seven regions, including a damaged transmission tower causing outages for about 250 residents in Rostov.
Russia’s defence ministry said overnight that 77 Ukrainian drones were destroyed as part of cross-border air activity across southern and central Russia and over the Crimean peninsula. The tally adds to growing reports of long-range drone and missile strikes aimed at military, logistics and energy assets far from the front lines.
Drones destroyed included 42 in the Saratov region and 12 in the Rostov region, with the remaining strikes spread across five other regions. The extent of damage outside those confirmed figures was not immediately disclosed by officials.
A power transmission tower in the Rostov region was damaged in the incident, state authorities said, leaving about 250 residents without electricity. There were no reported injuries.
The broader context remains tense as Moscow and Kyiv continue cross-border air attacks even as diplomatic talks progress. The war has increasingly featured long-range assaults on energy infrastructure, complicating winter preparations for millions of people.
Ukraine has also stepped up drone operations inside Russia, including attacks on oil depots and airfields, often framed as retaliation for Moscow’s strikes on Ukrainian cities and energy systems. As international diplomacy continues, both sides warn against escalation while continuing military operations.
