CBSE Gulf: No New Class 10 Exams, Results Based on Formula
CBSE cancels remaining Class 10 exams in the Gulf and will declare results using formula-based evaluation, with improvements possible in May.
New Delhi officials announced a special assessment scheme for Class 10 students in the Middle East after cancelling the remaining board examinations due to the ongoing conflict in the region. Examinations conducted between February 17 and February 28 across more than 150 affiliated schools in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were completed as scheduled.
The board will not hold fresh examinations. Instead, results will be calculated from the papers a student has already taken and by applying averages of the best-performing subjects where exams were missed. Students have been grouped into five categories based on the number of exams they appeared for, including those who appeared for all papers, and those who appeared in four, three or two subjects, as well as private candidates under the compartment category. The results for students who appeared in all exams will be based on their performance in those examinations, and CBSE has stated that these results will be final. No additional or special examinations will be conducted outside the second board cycle.
Middle East students’ results will be declared along with those in other regions, with the option to improve scores through the second board examinations scheduled in May. Schools have been asked to submit a tentative list of candidates by March 31, and examination fees will be collected after results are declared. The second exam will follow the same syllabus as the main board exams. This move aims to ensure a fair outcome for students amid disruption, while keeping the door open for improvements through the May attempt.
