New Delhi — Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday expressed strong confidence that the 2026-27 Budget, to be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, would be a good one. He noted that this would be Sitharaman’s ninth budget and highlighted the government's track record of delivering solid budgets designed to sustain growth while keeping fiscal discipline intact. The budget presentation is set for February 1, and officials describe it as a historic moment for independent India, with the annual exercise also marking the first time a budget for the April-March financial year is unveiled on a Sunday. The minister stressed that the government has consistently supported MSMEs through a range of programmes and initiatives, signaling continued hand-holding for small businesses as a cornerstone of the growth strategy.
