There's a lot happening with AI in every industry and the film industry is not an exception to this. AI has been used in the technical aspects quite openly, combining it with CGI, generative images, etc.. However, using AI in screenwriting is something that has been widely protested against and rightly so. 
A lot of the commercial films that release nowadays seem so lazy and generic, you can't help but wonder if AI is responsible for these scripts. Netflix movies like Red Notice, The Kissing Booth, The Gray Man or any Bollywood movie.
The Last Screenwriter is a film that was written by AI and was openly advertised as such. It received a lot of backlash and the existence of the film is proof that AI could never write a work of art as well as a human. It can only imitate and imitate, never being able to write the human condition, which only a human who has experienced life could. 
The Human Storytelling Process
Writing is a gritty, long, painful process that chips away at a writer over time. It requires dedication and care, pouring heart and soul into each word. When AI tries to imitate the finished works of so many writers, it misses out on all the depth and meaning that lies behind every work. All it can do is take the finessed versions and match it with its soulless words.
Why AI Cannot Replace Writers
Even relying on AI just to freshen your perspective when you get stuck on a scene or need inspiration can be detrimental. Creativity needs the real struggle and vulnerability that can come only from the raw pain it takes to finish a screenplay. If we let AI into our process, then it begins to filter out our pain and emotion, making whatever we write an imitation of AI. 
While AI might be more influential in the technical aspects of filmmaking (to a certain extent), we cannot allow AI to touch the writing process, ensuring that what we write is human and real.
