Former President Donald Trump has publicly weighed in on the sudden death of Senator Lindsey Graham, strongly suggesting there was no foul play involved and criticizing the FBI's decision to investigate the matter. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump declared he didn't see "a lot of 'evil'" in Graham's passing and believes the FBI is "wasting their time" by looking into the conspiracy theories circulating online.
Senator Graham, 71, passed away on Saturday evening after what his office described as a "brief and sudden illness." The chief medical examiner issued a preliminary ruling on Sunday, attributing his death to aortic dissection caused by cardiovascular disease. A comprehensive report is still pending.
Despite the preliminary ruling, FBI director Kash Patel stated on Sunday that the bureau was "assisting local authorities and has made every necessary resource available." While the FBI has not commented further, around 20 agents from the FBI and other federal agencies, alongside US Capitol Police officers, were observed at Graham’s Washington D.C. residence yesterday. Law enforcement sources told NBC News that federal agents are continuing to investigate his death "out of an abundance of caution."
Trump also mentioned he received a briefing from White House doctors regarding Graham's death. He quoted medical opinions, saying, "This is something that is very almost undetectable… And if it happens, there’s not much you can do about it. Sounds unfortunate, but there’s not much you can do about it." His comments come amidst widespread online speculation and conspiracy theories surrounding the Republican senator's unexpected demise.
