The Tech Mahindra Global Chess League's second day delivered exhilarating clashes and surprising draws, but it was Magnus Carlsen's Alpine APL Pipers who truly shone, securing an impressive 11-6 victory against Ganges Grandmasters. This marked their second consecutive win, maintaining a strong start in the league.

Carlsen, the World No. 1, was seen with a shy smile as he made his way to the venue at Lalit Ashok. Despite being held to a draw by former World championship challenger Ian Nepomniachtchi, the collective strength of his team propelled them to victory. Fyers American Gambits, despite playing on home turf, experienced their first defeat after a promising opening day, falling 7-9 to Ganges Grandmasters. This loss was particularly impactful due to the defeat of Javokhir Sindarov, the World No. 4, to Nepomniachtchi.

Sindarov notably lost on time, proving to be a costly error.

Further disappointment struck the two-time title-winner Triveni Continental Kings, who are currently struggling in this year's league.

They lost 9-10 to Cheq Mumba Masters, marking their third consecutive defeat. For the Masters, this victory offered a much-needed sigh of relief after having previously lost two matches, including an 11-6 defeat to PBG Alaskan Knights earlier in the day.
