Temperatures across Telangana have plunged into the chilly range, with three districts recording sub-10°C readings. The coldest spot was Tiryani in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad district, where the thermometer touched 8.2°C in the early hours from Wednesday to Thursday morning (around 8:30 am). In Rudrangi of Rajanna Sircilla district, the temperature settled at 9.1°C, while Neradigonda in Adilabad registered 9.5°C. Across the state, the minimum did not exceed 15.4°C, based on data from the Telangana Development Planning Society for the same time window.
Forecasters from the Indian Meteorological Department say the chill is likely to persist, with minimum temperatures expected to remain below normal by about 2°C to 3°C in isolated pockets over the next couple of days. Residents should brace for lingering fog and cooler mornings, particularly in rural areas. While the forecast does not call for a sudden warm-up, officials suggest that temperatures may gradually ease by the weekend in some areas, but a widespread rise is not imminent.
In Hyderabad, the state capital, the minimum stood at 13.6°C in Maredpally, 11.5°C in Ibrahimpatnam in Rangareddy district, and 13.0°C in Ghatkesar of Medchal Malkajgiri. These readings reflect a broader trend of a cooler spell that contrasts with the recent warmth often associated with early winter. People are advised to dress in layers, keep homes properly heated, and take extra care to protect the elderly and children from exposure to the chill.
This spell of cold weather arrives as Telangana, like several other parts of the country, transitions into the winter season. While these temperatures are not extreme, they mark a noticeable shift that residents are already adapting to. Meteorologists emphasize that the chill could linger for a few days, and residents should monitor updates from weather authorities.
