Hounslow House Fire: Woman Dead, Murder Probe Launched After Blaze
Tragedy strikes Hounslow, West London, as a house fire claims one life and injures eight others. Police launch a murder investigation, believing the fire was started deliberately.
A tragic house fire in Hounslow, West London, has led to the death of a 48-year-old woman and left eight others injured, prompting a full-scale murder investigation by Metropolitan Police. The incident, which occurred just after 1am on Wednesday on Berkley Avenue, saw emergency services rushing to the scene.
London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service, and Metropolitan Police officers were all in attendance. While one woman sadly succumbed to her injuries in hospital, another 40-year-old woman remains in a life-threatening condition. Seven other individuals, six men and one woman, were also hospitalized but have since been discharged after receiving treatment for minor injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, who is spearheading the inquiry, stated that police believe the fire may have been deliberately started. "Our thoughts are first and foremost with the victim’s family and loved ones at this extremely difficult time, as well as everyone who has been injured," DCI John said. He further assured the public that this is believed to be an isolated incident within a residential address, acknowledging that it will nonetheless cause concern within the local community.
Officers will maintain a presence in the area throughout the day as the investigation progresses. No arrests have been made so far. Authorities are urging anyone with information, including CCTV, doorbell camera, or dashcam footage that could assist their enquiries, to come forward.
