Around 10 pm on January 22, Ankur Chaudhary, Kajal’s husband, allegedly contacted Nikhil and claimed Kajal was arguing with him. Kajal managed to take the phone and tried to explain what had happened, but Ankur snatched it back, pressed Nikhil to record the conversation as evidence, and warned that he was going to kill his sister. Nikhil then heard Kajal’s screams before the call abruptly disconnected. Five minutes later, another call came in from Ankur announcing that Kajal was dead. The harrowing exchange has become a central, heart-wrenching detail of the case.
Family members have alleged that Kajal was four months pregnant at the time of her death, a claim that has intensified scrutiny of the couple’s disputes, including financial matters cited by the family.
