Indian-origin man shot dead in Burnaby linked to gang conflict
Police probe a targeted killing in Burnaby tied to BC gang conflict, with a burned vehicle found nearby linked to the homicide.
A 28-year-old Indian-origin man, Dilraj Singh Gill of Vancouver, was shot dead in Burnaby in what police say appears to be a targeted attack tied to British Columbia's gang conflicts. The shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. on January 22 near the 3700 block of Canada Way. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say Gill was known to police, and the incident appears linked to the BC gang conflict. Shortly after the shooting, a vehicle engulfed in flames on Buxton Street was found; authorities say the burned car is connected to the homicide. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is coordinating with Burnaby RCMP, the Lower Mainland District Integrated Forensic Identification Service, and the BC Coroners Service to gather evidence.
Homicide investigators are continuing the probe and urging anyone with information to come forward.
