Nine-member gang led by Surabhi Mahesh busted in Kadapa; police recover 23.58 kg ganja, 1,620 Tapedac 100 mg tablets, and two mobile phones during a raid near DTC Circle.
Kadapa police busted a nine-member drug-peddling gang in a raid near DTC Circle, seizing 23,580 grams of ganja and 1,620 Tapedac 100 mg tablets along with two mobile phones. The operation, led by RIMS police, resulted in the arrest of all the accused.
The principal accused, Surabhi Mahesh, has a long criminal history with cases including murder, vehicle theft, kidnapping, robbery, and multiple ganja cases across Pulivendula, Proddatur, Tirupati, Chapadu, Pendlimarry, Siddavatam, Jammalamadugu and Kadapa. He was also named in an NDPS case in Karnataka and is under a rowdy sheet.
During his jail term, he reportedly came into contact with an Odisha-based ganja supplier, Indrajith, after which he formed a new gang with several associates. The group allegedly coordinated procurement, transport, and distribution of ganja and illegally supplied Tapedac tablets to youth.
Police maintained surveillance on the gang and orchestrated a raid after credible information that they gathered near DTC Circle to sell the contraband. The seized items were valued at about ₹1.15 lakh for ganja and ₹96,000 for the tablets, underscoring the scale of the operation and the challenge of narcotics in the region.
