The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has confirmed that the central government has agreed to engage in discussions, with party representatives slated to meet JP Nadda. This significant development comes as thousands of CJP protesters embarked on a "Chalo Sansad" march towards Parliament in New Delhi on Monday.
CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das, alongside fellow spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, announced their imminent meeting with Nadda, stating, "It’s 11:52 AM. Ashutosh Ranka and I, on behalf of the Cockroach Janta Party, are on our way to meet JP Nadda. The government had reached out for talks in the morning. Our demands are clear. The youth has gathered in huge numbers." This statement was shared on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the party's clear agenda and the substantial public turnout.
Despite the breakthrough in communication, tensions flared near Parliament Street as protesters allegedly attempted to breach security barricades. Forces reportedly resorted to a baton-charge, resulting in a scuffle where some protesters and police personnel sustained minor injuries. Sources indicate that around 10-15 protesters were detained during the confrontation. A heavy deployment of uniformed and plain-clothed police personnel was visible across the high-security zone, aiming to maintain order and prevent the crowds from reaching Parliament.
However, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Sharma of New Delhi countered these reports, asserting that no Delhi Police personnel had used force on protesters. This conflicting information adds another layer to the unfolding situation. Meanwhile, activist Sonam Wangchuk also sought permission to temporarily leave Safdarjung Hospital to join the march, stating his health parameters were normal, indicating the widespread support and determination behind the protest.
