Two youths hurt as car driven by Maniyanpilla Raju hits motorcycle in Kerala

A traffic incident late Thursday in Thiruvananthapuram left two youths with serious injuries after a car, allegedly driven by actor Maniyanpilla Raju, collided with their motorcycle near the Trivandrum Club in Vazhuthacaud around 10 p.m. The injured were identified as Nivedith Krishna and Suraj, both residents of Thiruvananthapuram, who were rushed to a hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case under sections for rash driving and endangering life, along with provisions for failure to provide emergency medical assistance and for not reporting the accident to the police. The car sustained damage, with a detached number plate and damaged bumper parts recovered from the spot. The vehicle was found to be registered in the name of Sudheer Kumar Raju, which is the actor’s real name, according to investigators.

Reports indicate the incident occurred moments after the actor left the club, when the driver allegedly attempted a sudden U-turn toward Kowdiar, leading to the collision with the motorcycle traveling in the same direction. The two youths suffered leg and spinal injuries and were moved to hospital for urgent care.

In subsequent developments, CCTV visuals reportedly showed the car knocking down the motorcycle and then continuing without stopping to assist the injured. Police instructed Maniyanpilla Raju to appear at the station, with the car also required for inquiry. The case was later connected to the actor, and he was arrested in relation to the hit-and-run incident and released on station bail as police continued investigations. The evolving case has drawn attention to celebrity accountability in traffic accidents and the ongoing police verification of the vehicle involved.
