Steve Irwin's Family Pays Heartfelt Tributes 20 Years On

Two decades have passed since the world tragically lost Steve Irwin, the beloved "Crocodile Hunter," and his family is marking the poignant milestone with heartfelt tributes. Widow Terri, along with children Bindi and Robert, have remembered the iconic conservationist as a "superhero" whose passion for wildlife captivated audiences globally.

Known for his daring encounters with animals and his infectious enthusiasm, Steve Irwin hosted numerous natural history shows that left an indelible mark on viewers worldwide. His life was cut short in 2006 following a fatal encounter with a stingray, but his legacy, as his family attests, continues to thrive and inspire. His children, Bindi and Robert, have dedicated themselves to sustaining their father's work in environmental protection.

They frequently appear on television shows and, alongside their mother Terri, manage the family-run Australia Zoo in Queensland. Bindi, who was merely eight years old when her father died, shared an emotional clip of Irwin reflecting on "the most incredible wildlife encounter of my life", the birth of his daughter.

In a touching social media post, Bindi wrote,

Twenty years ago, today, the world lost the most passionate and dedicated wildlife conservationist. Our family lost our superhero. My mum lost the love of her life; my brother and I lost the greatest dad.

She continued, reflecting on the enduring nature of grief and love: "Grief never truly leaves us; we walk alongside it every day.

Where there is enormous grief, there is even greater love." Bindi poignantly concluded, "I always thought that my dad's legacy is wildlife conservation; it turns out, his legacy is love. For our planet and for each other.

The impact of Steve Irwin's life extends even to the next generation, as Bindi revealed her five-year-old daughter watches her grandfather's programmes every morning, feeling

utterly loved by her 'grandpa crocodile,' despite never meeting him." Bindi firmly believes that her father's profound love and impact will "ripple out for generations to come," asserting, "I believe with my whole heart that his love will live on forever." She concluded her tribute with a loving message: "Dad, I love you with my whole heart.
