Hours after police busted a terror module in Faridabad, a powerful explosion rocked Delhi on Monday evening near Red Fort Metro Station, killing nine and injuring over a dozen. The incident has prompted investigators to explore possible links to activities in the neighbouring city. On Tuesday, the Haryana Police carried out a raid on Al Falah University in Dhauj, Faridabad, in connection with the Delhi blast and the broader terror network under scrutiny. Three doctors connected to the university were arrested as part of the investigation, with authorities noting links between the clinic, the academic institution, and the alleged module.
A massive cache of explosives and ammunition was recovered during the operation, including ammonium nitrate, fuel oil and detonators. Preliminary findings point to the potential use of these materials in constructing advanced explosives such as RDX. Investigators are examining how the university and its affiliates may have served as a shelter or conduit for the network’s activities, while the investigation spans multiple states as more suspects are reportedly brought into custody.
Officials indicated that the Delhi blast driver, Umar Mohammad, a Pulwama resident, had ties to the Faridabad module. The module is said to be linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, complicating the case with transnational connections. As authorities piece together the network’s reach, final reports and more arrests are anticipated. The development has raised concerns about potential gaps in oversight at academic and professional institutions and the kinds of security risks that may arise when individuals with extremist links are embedded within such environments.
